To all members West Lothian Prostate Cancer Support Group.
This has been an amazing year with great donations to our Group of £5622.00 and we also sent £340.00 to Prostate UK from badge sales at our ASDA Event and from our meetings. The ASDA Event on 7 March was a great success with over 800 leaflets issued and many folks spoke to us about the PSA Test issues. We also had a spot on STV News that night to highlight our Group Event and raise all the issues around the need for more men to get a PSA Test.
The latest government review on national testing has again put a decision on hold until a more effective test has proved to be effective with a lead on a possible diagnosis. However, this will all take time and I hope all the new publicity will just make more men want to get a PSA Test.
Can I take this opportunity to thank all the members on behalf of my team for your continued support at our meetings that help to encourage us to continue with the many tasks of finding all the ways we can to support men and their families through the difficult times they face once they have been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. You also help at our meetings to show new members the help we offer and give them encouragement to see how so many men have got their lives back on track after treatment.
We will continue to develop new ways to get the message out to men in West Lothian about the help on offer from our Group and if you ever see a spot where a poster about our Group could be displayed let me know and I will see you at our next meeting on 5 February or e mail you a copy.
On behalf of Frances & myself and all our Team can I wish you a lovely Christmas and a healthy New Year.
