At our most recent members’ meeting at Maggie’s on 7th June 2018, we were delighted to welcome Holy Rood High School student Miss Isla Campbell, together with her mum and grandmother. Sadly Isla’s grandfather – Mr Jim Bagan – died of prostate cancer earlier this year, and following a school project in support of ELPCSG, Isla organised a collection (£620 was collected) at her grandfather’s funeral, for the Group. At the funeral everyone wore a light blue ribbon. In addition  Isla’s gran raised £120  from  ‘The Thursday Club’  at St John’s RC Church and again this was donated to our Group in memory of Jim Bagan. The magnificent sum of £740 was handed over to the group at the meeting (see photo above of Isla presenting the donations to our Treasurer Jim Woodhead). The group thanked Isla and her family and friends and wholeheartedly agreed that her grandfather would have been very proud of her.

And in further news we learned that the sale of Jim’s golf equipment at Liberton Golf Club raised an additional sum of £180 – this has also been donated to the Edinburgh and Lothian Prostate Cancer Support Group. Many thanks to David Doig, Secretary at Liberton Golf Club for organising this, and indeed thanks again to Jim Bagan’s wonderful family.
