DESCRIPTION:The evening will commence with a presentation entitled “PSMSA:  A new dawn for prostate cancer treatment” by Dr Rishi Ramesh who is a consultant radiologist at the Edinburgh cancer center with a subspecialist interest in nuclear medicine and cancer imaging.  He is also an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Edinburgh with an academic interest in novel medical imaging and artificial intelligence. \nThis will be followed by our AGM. \nWe look forward to meeting again at Maggie’s for a most interesting presentation and closing off a rather disjointed year with an enjoyable “get together” and “catch-up”.

SUMMARY:Edinburgh Members Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The final Thursday meeting of our 2020/2021 season\, which will incorporate our AGM\, will take place on Zoom on Thursday 10th June 2021 at 7pm. The meeting will take the form of an online webinar meeting until such time as it is safe for members to gather together in person. \nWe shall have a presentation by Dr Laura Lee\, the CEO of Maggie’s Centres\, reviewing the activities of Maggie’s during this pandemic period and looking forward to more normal times and plans for the future. Members will be sent joining instructions prior to the meeting and all relevant paperwork has already been sent out.

DESCRIPTION:This Thursday members’ meeting will take the form of an online webinar meeting until such time as it is safe for members to gather together in person. Members will be sent joining instructions prior to the meeting. \nTonight\, our speaker is Dr Helen Rippon\, CEO of Worldwide Cancer Research\, whose subject is the history and current work of WCR with particular reference to prostate cancer. Worldwide Cancer Research was established in 1979\, is Scotland’s only cancer research charity and has awarded over £180 million in research grants in 34 different countries. A small charity with a big reach\, it funds’discovery research’ (also called early stage research) worldwide that aims to lay the groundwork for cures for cancer. \nOur second speaker is Amie Willson\, a project manager with Macmillan.\nAmie will be introducing  the extension into the Edinburgh area of the successful Macmillan project  ‘Improving the Cancer Journey (ICJ)’. This project is already live in Dundee and Fife and focusses on the non-clinical issues encountered by those affected by cancer.
