June 5th ELPCSG selected for Finals of SCVO Scottish Charity Awards Community Section. Great exposure and event. See News Events, Gallery etc for more information and pics.
March 2014 – high profile Genetics conference organsied by West Lothian Group of ELPCSG focussing on inheritance and genetic issues of prostate cancer. See Press article in in West Lothian Courier. See also ELPCSG summary of talk, click HERE.
Treatment Options document produced by ELPCSG based on NICE guidelines for treatment of different stages of prostate cancer. See Newly Diagnosed page.
2013 saw maturity of Group and acceptance of buddy System by NHS staff . Record numbers of men contacted the support line in 2013.
October 2013 saw establishment of ELPCSG walking Group section for members. Run by enthusiastic outdoor man and member Iain Sime. See Walking page under Fun Stuff.
ELPCSG publish their “Having a Good Death Guide” and put in public domain. See ELPCSG Publications..
ELPCSG help build case by patient lobbying, media articles and Radio interviews (Call Kaye etc) for SMC to make available within the NHS the drug Enzalutamide for treatment of advanced prostate cancer. See PR in ELPCSG Publications.

PATIENT PATHWAY DEVELOPMENT (ongoing) for Improved Informed Choice for patients (along with membship of the SCAN Patient Communication, Support and Information Working Group)
SCAN – Our work with the Patient Reference Group and SCAN (www.scan.scot.nhs.uk) is work in progress and activities will be documented on this page. Attending SCAN mtgs on quarterly basis to input from patient perspective.
Working with SCAN on development of TIPS (Tailored Information for Patients) – work in progress, more info in due course.

Updated BUDDY Programme – ELPCSG summer 2012 establish training (Maggies & Macmillan)standards for “buddy” support. New resource documents and buddy materials and improvements to programme and contactability. see Buddies page.

Provision of therapy “Taster”sessions – for members (ie pilates, reflexology, physio etc) – 30 members signed up for these being delivered in March 2012 ” funded by Macmillan.
Pilot On-Site ELPCSG Volunteer for Clinic @ the Western G H.Pilot started ran for period of one month and helped to highlight better ways of communicating the the benefits of ELPCSG to patients.
ABIRATERONE : Submission to the Scottish Medicines Consortium to support/comment on the case for availaibility of this drug to patients in Scotland. Update 15/5/12 on status from Mike Shaw, click HERE for pdf download document.
Livingston Group(2011) – Biopsy Service. Livingston were successful in helping establish a biopsy service at St Johns.
Publication in 2010 of Chris Garner’s book – Natural Approaches to Prostate Cancer See Downloads for pdf copy. This book was made available free to members and donations raised went to Maggie’s Centres.
Coffee machine (2009)- HEBA Centre – Western General Hospital. Peter Phillips initiated the supply (2008) and donation by the Group of a very welcome coffee machine for the HEBA Centre at the WGH. Gratefully received by CNS Rita O’ Dea who is pictured here receiving a welcome injection of caffeine! In 2012 ELPCSG are continuing to maintain and support this facility.
National Conference in 2008 – the first patient organised conference, funded, planned and realised by patients. (See Report in Summer 2009 Newsletter in ELPCSG Pubs & photo gallery).
Zometa Campaign – Publicity re the availability of this drug, driven by Peter Phillips.
